Job Summary: Under the guidance of the management team, the driver will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy at work. The driver must demonstrate a client-oriented approach, a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. The driver will provide driving services to the operations team, project team and any other people as communicated to him by management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide reliable, timely and secure driving services, driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of documents and other related goods and supplies in/out of Kampala under the authorization of the supervisor.
Ensure proper use of the vehicle through accurate day-to-day maintenance of vehicle logs, and provision of inputs to preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports (minor and major repairs, oil change, check of tyres, brakes, car washing etc.
Ensure availability of all required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, logs, first aid kit and necessary spare parts.
Ensure all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Secondary school education (Advanced level certification)
Valid driver’s license Class D
Minimum of 5 years experience as a driver with the above class and with a clean record
Experience working with an international organization would be an added advantage.
Excellent knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs
Display culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
High energy and a positive construction attitude
Works well under pressure
Responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view.
Fluency in English and Knowledge of local languages is an asset.
