Grindrod Logistics Africa Uganda seeks to recruit skilled, experienced, and motivated technical team to work in Kampala and Buliisa to maintain their contracted equipment throughout the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Efficient On-Site Technical Support:
- Respond promptly to technical issues and breakdowns on-site.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
Ensure High-Quality Installations and Repairs:
- Perform installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks on trucks, trailers, lowbeds, mobile cranes, forklifts, and telehandlers.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues proactively.
Maintain Accurate Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment condition.
- Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and spare parts usage.
- Communicate effectively with the maintenance team and management regarding findings and recommendations.
Optimize Operational Efficiency and Safety:
- Implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Grade 12
- N3TC – Qualified Diesel Mechanic
- MS Office
- Valid CH licence
- 2 to 3 years’ experience in the heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair industry.(Cranes, Trucks (standard prime movers, Hiab trucks, Vacuum trucks, Water trucks, Fuel trucks), Forklifts, Telehandlers, Flatbed trailers, Lowbed trailers).
- Proven experience as a Technical & Maintenance Technician, preferably in a similar industry.
Knowledge, Skills & Competences
- Proficiency in repairing and maintaining trucks, trailers, low-beds, mobile cranes, forklifts, and telehandlers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose technical issues accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Valid driver’s license for a site breakdown truck is mandatory.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Comfortable with camp rotation and working in remote locations.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when required.
