About Imagine Her:
Imagine Her is a local non-profit working with communities to accelerate the power and potential of women, girls, and youth as active leaders and social entrepreneurs creating sustainable solutions within their communities.
We are implementing Project Hello World for which we are seeking to fill the 6 fellowship roles of Innovation Fellows in the three districts.
Hello World is a not-for-profit that offers sustainable and replicable solutions to global poverty by bridging the digital divide. Our driving purpose is to give every community the opportunity to break the poverty cycle. We work with marginalized communities in developing countries to build community-built, solar-powered internet stations that get people online, and give children access to world class educational software. There are currently 59 Hubs across Uganda, reaching a total of 85 by March 2024. Many Hello Hubs are based in refugee setlements, providing essential communication and education services to communities. At every Hub, we run projects which support meaningful Hub use and inclusivity at every Hub. These projects teach digital literacy and give communities the skills they need to make the most out of their Hubs.
Fellowship Summary -About the Innovation fellowship
We are glad to launch The Innovation Classroom Program, under the umbrella of Hello World, which is a pioneering initiative designed to drive community-led development at the Hello Hubs. This program integrates an innovation fellowship and a training program, aiming to empower community members through a meticulously structured 3-month innovation curriculum.
Primary responsibilities: As an Innovation Fellow, you are the cornerstone of this program and you will be integrated in your local community for 3 months and during this duration, your responsibilities will include: innovation curriculum Delivery, Community Engagement and Empowerment, Mentorship and Support, plus Monitoring and Evaluation.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is committed to closing the digital divide in the most marginalized communities in Uganda. We are looking for a good communicator who can take initiative and is willing to take on a challenge and build up innovative ideas with the community.
Essential Qualifications
- Recent Graduate not more than 3 years with experience in Education, Entrepreneurship, Engineering and any relevant course
- Passionate about Innovation and Training.
- Passionate about community work.
- Has the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively both verbally and in writing English.
- Having passed experience in facilitation is an added advantage
- Ability to mentor community members
Desirable Skills
- Arabic proficiency, as well as other local languages spoken in BidiBidi
- Experience delivering training to communities
- Experience living and working in Bidi Bidi, Lira, Masaka, Yumbe respectively.
- Experience working on innovation projects in communities
- Knowledge of the local languages spoken in the community you are applying for is a MUST.
- Photography: ability to take and share photos suitable for external communication.
