The African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims ( ACTV ) is a Non-Governmental organization in Uganda which commenced operations in 1993 whose mandate includes advocacy against torture and provision of physical and psychological treatment and rehabilitation, social support and legal services to survivors of torture.
Job Summary: The Physiotherapist will provide supervision in the administering of physiotherapy treatment to clients adhering to policies, professional standards and legal obligations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertake comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of torture survivors with a wide variety with physical and emotional needs.
- To formulate and deliver quality physiotherapy treatment to torture survivors.
- Measure and prescribe appropriate orthopedic appliances for torture survivors.
- Provision of Rehabilitative counselling to torture survivors.
- Ensure the appropriate equipping of the Centre with essential physiotherapy equipment and materials. This will also involve managing and maintaining the equipment and materials.
- Work with any other professionals (Psychologists, Social Workers), in the development of peer-to-peer support groups.
- Referral of torture survivors for special investigations and treatment.
- Participate in advocacy initiatives against torture.
- Participate and contribute to proposal writing and other ACTV fundraising initiatives.
- Ensure the production of reports and that any lessons learnt can be documented both for internal use and for possible publication.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a Diploma in physiotherapy (Credit)
