Trust AIC Foundation (TAF) formerly AIDS Information Centre-Uganda (AIC) is a catalytic not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organisation established on 14th February,1990 to provide Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) services to the population of Uganda.
TAF was the pioneer HIV Counselling and Testing Centre in Africa. Over the last 33 years, TAF has since evolved into a thought-leader in HIV programming, Health Systems Strengthening and Knowledge Management.
Job Summary: The Cashier will receive cash and cheques payable to TAF (AIC), ensure safe custody of such receipts and to payout authorized payments
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive cash and make payments
- Examine every cheque received to ascertain that it is genuine and properly drawn
- Settle all approved payments promptly
- Prepare payment vouchers for each payment and ensure that they signed by the authorized signatories
- Manage cash in line with the accounting procedures
- Ensure that supporting documents or signatures are authentic
- Prepare petty cash vouchers
- Take responsibility for petty cash held in the office or safe
- Prepare petty cash forms and request for additional cash as necessary
- Carry out bi-weekly routine cash count
- Issue and sign receipts for cash or cheque receipts
- Maintain a daily record of all receipts and payments
- Maintain accounts records (receipts etc.)
- Update and analyze cashbooks
- Manage petty cash in strict adherence to financial regulations pertaining to petty cash management
- Safely lock up cash and cheques in the safe pending banking or paying out
- Bank all the day’s receipts intact
- Ensure proper filing of the vouchers and safe custody of the cheques
- Prepare monthly and quarterly payment reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Cashier must hold a Diploma in Accounting, preferably UDBS or ATC, Part 1 of ACCA or CPA
- Two years of experience in a fairly busy Cash office
- Management of cash and cheques receipts and payments
- Knowledge of cash-handling regulations
- Records Management Skills
- Computer Skill
