National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament in 1993. Our mandate is to Procure, Store and Distribute medicines and other medical supplies to health facilities.

Job Summary:  The Estates Assistant – Civil will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining of plumbing system, and sanitary accessories to facilitate smooth running of NMS corporation business

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Constant checking of the sewage and water supply system, unblocking of manholes, underground sewage pipelines, toilets, hand wash basins.
• Replacing any broken plumbing fittings like taps, water pipes/lines, toilet seat covers, toilet seats and fix any loose joints of sewage system.
• Draw up inspection schedules, to guide periodic inspections of the sewage system, prepare status reports and recommend possible solutions where necessary.
• Monitor performance of office cleaning services and sanitary facilities including toilets, bath-rooms, urinals, wash hand basins amongst others.
• Locate and repair any leakages on the water supply lines.
• Inspect and test plumbing systems for safety and proper functionality.
• Requisition and monitor stock levels for all materials required for day-to-day plumbing works and repairs.
• Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems/fixtures.
• Carry out daily monitoring of water levels in reservoir tanks, ensure proper operation and advise for any re-fills required.
• Plan, budget, monitor and report on utilisation of utilities for NMS
• Identify possible risks during execution of duties and formally report to the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of a Certificate in plumbing or water engineering obtained from a recognized institution.
• An Ordinary diploma in plumbing or water engineering obtained from a recognized institution shall be an added advantage.
• The incumbent should have basic computer knowledge.
• The incumbent should have good communication skills.
• Three years of hands-on experience from a reputable organization.
