Job Title:    Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Uganda Airlines is
the flag carrier of Uganda. The company is a revival of the older Uganda
Airlines which operated from 1977 until 2001. It began flying in August 2019.

 

Job Summary:  The Aircraft maintenance Engineer is
responsible for daily work on the aircraft and to ensure that the aircraft is
available and departs on time, all defects are rectified and troubleshooting is
done on time. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring that all scheduled
checks are completed on time

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
The line
maintenance engineer will be involved in the day to day work on the aircraft.
He shall be the initial point of contact whenever maintenance is to be done.
The line maintenance engineer shall report to the maintenance manager and shall
work hand in hand with the approved maintenance organization.

·       
Carry
out maintenance tasks (scheduled and unscheduled) in the hangar and on line as
per approved maintenance program (i.e. inspections, repairs, defect
rectifications, alterations and modifications, replacements, functional tests)
to assure continued airworthiness, mechanical and structural integrity of
aircraft, engines, components, equipment and systems.

Strict
compliance to airworthiness regulations and applicable approved data/instructions
for maintenance tasks carried out.

·       
Ensuring
that all defects are rectified and aircraft/aircraft component certified on
time prior to release to service.

·       
Ensuring
that safety standards are adhered to before attempting any maintenance tasks to
avoid injury of personnel and/or equipment damage.

·       
Review
of cabin defects and rectifying them before releasing an aircraft for flight.

·       
Ensuring
that all aircraft certificates/licenses and manuals are up-to-date and amended
before use.

·       
Meeting
and debriefing the pilots on every aircraft arrival and carrying out
appropriate tasks as outlined in the Approved Maintenance Program (prefight,
transit, weekly, daily, etc) and performing all other duties that he/she may be
assigned.

·       
Reporting
and recording any abnormal conditions of wear, damage etc. on aircraft, part or
component when identified.

·       
Ensuring
that all defective components/ parts removed from the aircraft have
appropriately filled and signed documentation before handing them over to the
stores.

·       
Performing
Pre-flight Inspections and aircraft technical dispatch services

·       
Supervising
all tasks assigned to and carried out by aircraft technicians including but not
limited to aircraft fueling/defueling, aircraft external cleaning, tool and
equipment handling, etc

·       
Responsible
for toolbox and tools management and control during and after maintenance

·       
Accomplishment
of any work assigned to him by his/her superior

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Uganda Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Engineer job must hold a
current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License Airframes, Engines (Gas
turbine engines) or Avionics (Electrical, Instruments, Autopilots, Radios). Or
Hold a full EASA B1 or B2 license.

·       
At least
two years in the capacity of returning aircraft to service; and Possess active
approval or recent experience in an approved maintenance organisation.

·       
Equivalent
experience of 5 years in an aviation line maintenance setting.

·       
A type
rating on Uganda Airlines Fleet (A330ceo/A330neo or CRJ 900 aircraft) will be
an added advantage.

·       
Experience
in line & base maintenance and AOG management

·       
Be able
to work autonomously and under pressure

·       
Technical
experience, with broad knowledge of airline operational constraints and
maintenance/engineering experience.

·       
Have
experience working in outstations

·       
Team/shift
leader with production control skills.
