Grants and Compliance Officer
Swedish development organization working together with local partners for a
sustainable change for the most vulnerable people of the world. In Uganda,
Diakonia works mainly in the North Eastern Karamoja region, focusing on
improving the living standards of the most vulnerable people. Diakonia also has
strategic relations with civil society organizations in the capital Kampala,
and in other parts of Northern and North Eastern Uganda.
have received funds to implement a six (6) months humanitarian project that
will be implemented in Amuru District.
providing day-to-day leadership on financial management aspects of the
humanitarian project including budget monitoring and compliance, procurement,
and logistics. The Finance Officer will establish and maintain sound financial
management practices and ensure the project’s compliance with Diakonia and
GWED-G procedures, rules and regulations. The position will be based at GWED-G
Offices in Gulu District. The Finance
Officer provides day-to-day leadership on financial managementbaspects of the
humanitarian project
Management
- Ensure strict adherence and compliance to financial control systems,
policies and procedures - Manage cash controls as well as maintain up-to-date book keeping for
the project. - Ensure timely maintenance of the general and subsidian; ledgers.
- Ensure all expenses are within approved project budget.
- Preparation of project financial statements as required.
- Ensure that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded.
- Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting.
- Review financial paperwork and procedures and make sure that all
transactions are sufficiently supported.
Logistics
- Formulate a humanitarian procurement plan for the project
- Maintain a procurement register tor the project
- Ensure that all procurements comply with policy guidelines and best
practice - Ensure that all procurement take into consideration value for money
- Ensure that transport management system for the project is well
managed - Maintain up to date assets register including undertaking annual
asset inventory
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or equivalent
qualification. - Part-qualification from recognized accountancy body CPA, ACCA is an
added advantage - Three years of finance and administration experience gained from a
humanitarian non-profit organization handling donor funds
