1964 and is a Ugandan construction and real estate management company, partly
owned by the Uganda Government. The Company’s mandate is to increase the
housing stock in the country, rehabilitate the housing industry and encourage
Ugandans to own homes in an organized environment.
& Cost Accountant will provide financial technical service to Operations
department in matters pertaining to project viability, requisite cost build-ups
and the determination of the relevant gross margins.
- The incumbent will gather project data and
carry out Project Costing in accordance with laid down company procedures. - Manage and control project costs in
accordance with the budget and best practices including tracking &
recording project cost build-up and produce the necessary management
reports for stakeholder consideration. - Carry out costing of materials and prepare
general ledger entries to determine specific overheads and allocate them
directly to projects. - Conduct Project planning and Project
appraisal and provide quarterly appraisal reports on running projects - Provide expert support to the Operations
Department for all projects in relation to cost capture and management. - Prepare management accounts in accordance
with laid down Company procedures and in accordance with the financial
procedures and processes. - Provide Management with periodic updates
on business performance by performing financial analysis of key operating
financial information. - Carry out Budget monitoring and control
- Coordinate Stores Management processes and
control including operationalization of systems that ensures efficient
management and monitoring of an up-to-date inventory of the
acquisition, distribution,
storage and maintenance of all NHCCL’s property and supplies. - Tasked with monitoring monthly billing for
accuracy and timeliness
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Project &
Cost Accountant job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce,
Business Administration (Accounting), Business Finance or a closely
related and relevant discipline from a recognized University/institution - Level II Intermediate stage of Part
professional accounting qualification of an internationally recognized
accountancy Institution, such as ACCA, or CPA (K or U), CIMA is a must. - Good knowledge and skills in application
of Finance & Accounting-related Software and MS Office Package (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and related packages, is essential. - Additional qualifications in Project
Planning and Management, or Business Management, from recognized
institutions, are desirable. - A minimum of three years’ experience as a
Project & Cost Accountant; Accountant, or in a similar position, in a
large and reputable organization, preferably a vibrant commercial
organization, or a civil works company, or an investment company. - Previous exposure and experience in
working with public, or private sector organizations in housing-related
projects, or programs, shall be an added advantage. - Analytical thinking/skills and judgment

- Excellent interpersonal and relationship
management skills - High degree of flexibility
