Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
for the supervision of one or more bridge projects. This will involve supervision
of works, enforcing compliance to the environmental and social management
plans, timely progress reporting and participate in the preparation of closure
reports, detailing as built drawings and all other requirements. In addition,
the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing quality control, health and safety
matters, traffic management and also participate in taking of measurement of
works.
- Actively monitor and supervise construction
of bridges and structures in line with standards and specifications and
project plans; - Conduct quality management and confirmation
of measurements of the executed works in line with bills of quantities,
standards, and specifications; - Responsible for monitoring project timelines
for bridges and structures projects in line with the approved work
program; - Prepare and submit progress reports on bridges
and structures projects in line with performance agreements; - Actively monitor financial progress of the
project(s) managed in line with contract financing agreements; - Respond to audit reports and implement agreed
recommendations within specified time frames; - Develop risk matrix and put in place risk
mitigation measures of management of bridges and structures. - Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager
Bridges & Structures.
- The applicant for the UNRA Engineer Bridges
& Structures job vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Civil
Engineering and Construction Management; - Professional registration with the ERB or
relevant Association of professional engineers in the Commonwealth
countries is an added advantage; - At least three years’ experience in bridges
and structures construction. - Demonstrated experience in Project Management
of major construction works; - Demonstrated working experience in managing
diverse professionals. - Computer literacy skills
- High degree of integrity;
- Excellent track record of outstanding
performance; - Ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely
manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
