Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation in the Water
sector in Uganda with a Vision “To be a leading Water Utility in the World.”
NWSC is a utility parastatal 100% owned by The Government of Uganda. It was
established in 1972 under decree No: 34. The mandate of the Corporation as
defined in the National Water & Sewerage Corporation Statute of 1995, Section
5 (1), is to operate and provide water and sewerage services in areas entrusted
to it, on a sound, commercial and viable basis. The NWSC operations were
initially in three towns of Kampala, Jinja, and Entebbe.
Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient financial
management of the Area and for maintenance of the necessary systems to
safeguard the assets, financial performance and financial position of the Area.
- Conduct control of income and expenditure
ensuring that all payments due to the Corporation are duly made. - Ensuring responsible stewardship and safe
custody of cash and other assets of the Corporation. - Ensure periodic management and cost statements
are prepared and presented to the area manager and headquarters finance
department. - Ensure that all financial records in the Area
are up to date and reflect the financial performance and position of the
Area. - Prepare and compile the capital and operations
annual budget for the area. - Timely posting of income and expenditure in the
financial ledger from source records. - Prepare Area financial reports as required by
the Corporation. - Ensure that the financial ledgers are regularly
reviewed, verified and acted upon. - Overall daily supervision of work programs in
the finance section. - Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliation
of all area bank accounts.
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree
from a recognized Institution in Commerce (Accounting), Business
Administration (Accounting) or any other relevant discipline. - A master degree in Accounting, Financial
Management - Professional course in accounting like ACCA,
CPAU is an added advantage. - At least four years of relevant experience in the accounting profession.
- Excellent computer and analytical skills.
- Possess high levels of initiative, commitment
to work, ability to meet tight deadlines. - Excellent communications and interpersonal
skills with the ability to listen and identify solutions to problems. - Should be good team player highly motivated and
capable of working with minimal supervision. - Ability to train and mentor others.
