Program Background:
The Justice for Children Project 2011-2013 is an innovative “proof of concept” project initiated by the Justice, Law and Order Sector (JLOS) to improve system outcomes for children at risk of or affected by violence. J4C supports the development of justice service delivery systems to respond to the needs of children in a timely, effective and child- friendly manner. Funded by UNICEF and implemented by the Centre for Justice Studies and Innovations (CJSI), J4C pilots are located in the JLOS districts of Mbale/Bududa, Nakawa/Entebbe, Fort Portal/Kyenjojo, Gulu, Amuru/Nwoya, Kitgum/Lamwo, Pader/Agago, Soroti and the Karamoja districts of Kotido and Moroto.

Job Summary: The Program Manager will drive and manage the project under the overall direction of the Centre to deliver strengthened and functional DCCs; improved services for children, including but not limited to establishing the precise numbers of children served by the justice system; a system to fast track cases of children victims/ justice claimants; zero tolerance to detention of children with adults; and a functional multi stakeholder system that diverts children from the formal justice system at the earliest opportunity.
Qualifications, Skills& Experience:
·         A Program Manager will possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in law, human rights and/or child protection,
·         5+ years’ experience at Team Leader or Manager Level with similar organisation;
·         Sound knowledge of Government, NGC and Donor protocols,
·         Knowledge of legislation governing child justice in Uganda, leadership ability,
·         Excellent communication skills and both spoken and written ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships at all levels and excellent time management,
·         Computer and record keeping skills
