Job Title:  Accounts Assistant (Fresher Jobs)

Reports to: Finance and Administrations Manager

Founded in July 2014, Uganda Agribusiness Alliance is a network of agribusinesses and agribusiness-related apex organisations working towards an inclusive and competitive agribusiness industry in Uganda. Uganda Agribusiness Alliance positions agribusiness as the most plausible agent of change to reduce poverty and economic vulnerability, improve food and nutritional security, as well as create employment opportunities for the majority of Ugandans.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Finance and Administration Manager in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual and donor financial reports.
  • Prepare and maintain a proper filing system for the department
  • Support the Finance and Administration Manager in matters of procurement and stock taking of organization assets
  • Assist in Receiving payment requests and accountabilities, processing the requests, checking the requests against available budgets, and checking the expenditures to ensure all requisite attachments are attached.
  • Handling and writing cheques
  • Assisting Programmes staff on financial related transactions including handling and documenting payments for Kampala based activities.
  • Preparation of cash and bank reconciliations
  • Recording all the transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Ensuring that Tax obligations are cleared on time and returns filed accordingly.
  • And any other duties incidental to the above as may be determined by the Finance & Administrations Manager and the Chief Executive Office




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or any other relevant business course.
  • CPA/ACCA (level 1) is an added advantage
  • At least two years of work experience in accounting/Finance.
  • Knowledge and experience in accounting software specifically QuickBooks.
  • Strong work ethics and integrity
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Self-driven
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Analytical skills
