Job Summary: The Assistant General Manager for Kyagalanyi
Coffee Ltd. (KCL) will support the day to day running and on-going strategic
development of our business in Uganda. The position requires a senior manager
with substantial experience in a similar level role, with strong technical and
commercial expertise as well as management capability. Reporting to the General
Manager of Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd., the successful candidate will become part of
the KCL management team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the GM of KCL in developing and implementing an overall
strategic plan for the business. - Support on aspects of staffing, management and operational
requirements across various functions including but not limited to: - Financial resource allocation, budgeting, reporting and cost
management - Compliance with applicable minimum control standards
- Create a culture of high performance delivering against agreed
timescales and performance targets. - To have overall responsibility for operational performance and to
carry out regular client feedback discussions to ensure a high level of
service delivery and action. - Renewal and negotiation of leases, licensor agreements and service
provider contracts - Contribute towards all aspects of client and trading activities
including but not limited to: - Sourcing of Coffee i.e. Developing a strong working knowledge of
the coffee regions within Uganda and where/how to source coffees to
deliver on client needs at the right prices, developing and maintaining the
requisite knowledge of coffee tasting and blending - Trading administration
- P&L
- Valuations and MPR
- Handling and developing the customer base, hosting visitors
- Regular supplier and farm visits accompanied by customers,
gathering relevant information i.e. research on crop expectations,
prices, market rates and practices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience working in a similar level role within the
Coffee industry - Strong commercial acumen (Trading and Finance) with the enthusiasm and
past experience and drive to expand our sales into new markets and
increase our customer base - Customer focused with a passion for ensuring customer satisfaction
for existing relationships as well as seeking to expand the market and
initiate new business. - Experience of logistics, warehouse operations & quality control
management: an ability to work across all of these areas improving
procedures, personnel capacity, taking full responsibility for outcomes
for selected areas - Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity to different attitudes and
behaviours - Robust resilient character with the ability to work autonomously and
confidently. - Knowledge of financial management and managing budgets
- Proactive approach to problem prevention and problem solving
- Practical experience in working with sustainable supply chains would
be beneficial.
