Job Summary: The Head of Credit Risk Analysis is charged with the responsibility for overseeing, definition of risk appetite, development, and implementation of risk assessments for new products, pricing of new and existing products, setting credit strategy and lending decisions, building state of the are scoring and further decision models running, impairment provision process and development of IFRS9 models, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, building and running a best in class collections function
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the Credit Risk Management framework, including the development and maintenance of the credit risk policy, risk appetite statements and Key Risk Indicators.
- Define credit risk portfolio management requirements and own the associated monitoring, control and forecasting requirements.
- Develop and produce analytics and reporting on credit risk to ensure the bank is operating within risk appetite.
- Develop and regularly enhance a credit risk validation framework including validation guidelines, policies, and processes.
- Lead the Credit Risk Committees and Credit Risk related projects and participate and contribute to the periodic review of credit risk committee governance structures.
- Bank Portfolio Management and oversight of first line Credit book.
- Provide review and challenge of first line retail and whole sale credit; including any credit product launches.
- Oversee Bank credit risk model development and contribute to IFRS9 modelling.
- Contribute the setup of the overall Risk and Governance e function.
- Provide oversight and direction to the employees within the Credit Risk unit in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor and develop new staff including overseeing and onboarding new employees and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Provide advice to all stakeholders in the Bank with respect to Credit risk management, policies, practices, and standards.
- Responsible for review and analysis of the Key Credit Risk Performance Indicators and perform monthly trend analysis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- University degree in Economics, Statistics, Accountancy, Finance or related discipline.
- Master’s degree in relevant field is an added advantage.
- Professional qualification in Credit risk management.
- At least eight [8) years of experience in financial institution within the Credit function at an organization of similar and complexity, five [5) of which must be at managerial level with experience in Credit, Risk Management, Corporate lending, policy, credit analysis, credit approval or Internal audit.
- Strong Managerial and leadership skills.
- Thorough statistical analysis of underlying data requiring regression and time series analyses.
- Understanding of risk factors that impact the credit quality of portfolios.
- Strong understanding of quantitative credit risk modelling [e.g. POs, LGDs, EADs, vintage analysis, migration matrices), and good understanding of portfolio credit metrics such as limits, expected and unexpected loss, capital allocation.
- Ability to work well under pressure and comfortably engage senior management.
- Knowledge of data analysis, data modelling and validation tools.
