About Organisation:

AWAFY is a youth-led non-profit and non-governmental organization. Established in 2021, with its first office in Darfur, Zalingei. Later after the war took place in Sudan AWAFY was registered in Uganda as an international non-profit organization. AWAFY was founded to address the needs of Sudanese men and women concerning issues of change Advocacy & Peace Building, development, Health, Protection, Youth & Women Empowerment, and improving human rights conditions in Sudan.

 

Job Summary: The Researcher will work on AWAFY’s human rights projects. The Researcher will also be responsible for conducting specialized research studies on the human rights situation in the Darfur region. The researcher will also work closely with Field coordinators in Darfur region to prepare and publish periodic and monthly reports and updates on the human rights situation in the region.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and dissemination of research, specialized reports, periodic reports.
  • Develop and prepare research plans.
  • Transcript data collected by coordinators and data collectors.
  • Upload and archive data on various AWAFY’s electronic systems
  • Collect and analyse data on the human rights situation.
  • Develop data collection tools in collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation officer and various project managers.
  • Development of interviews and research forms and draft periodic reports.
  • Contribute to the preparation and planning of advocacy and lobbying campaigns with AWAFY’s local and international partners.
  • Audit and verify the information contained in the reports.
  • Developing research strategies




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least two years of Previous research experience in conflict and human rights, peace and social change topics.
  • Knowledge or academic background within the fields (legal, economic, political, social sciences, journalism, etc.) or any related field.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and publications.
  • Knowledge of Sudan social and political context, particularly conflict-affected areas such as Darfur.
  • Advanced skills in writing and organizing reports.
  • Ability to work independently and team.
  • Excellent communication skills (proficiency in English and Arabic)
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in dealing with various data and information collection tools such as Kobo, ODK, Excel, SPSS
  • Experience in team management, including remote management.
  • Ability to organize and plan the workload required and work within tight deadlines.
