Job Summary: The Fundraising and Sponsorship Coordinator will develop and implement AAU’s Fundraising Strategy and deliver AAIU’s specific fundraising programmes relating to individual donors, major donors, grants and philanthropic foundations and corporate giving. The role also coordinates the development of national sponsorship products, the acquisition and retention of supporters from Uganda; planning and coordinating sponsorship activities between AAIU and funding affiliates to maintain international supporter links to resource strategic commitments in line with the fundraising strategy.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop fundraising strategy and plans consistent with Country Strategy Paper (CSP) VI
  • Develop fundraising sources opportunities possible sources for fundraising
  • Develops standardized fundraising and publicity materials for awareness and fundraising.
  • Leads communication with key donors and funders with the aim of cultivating, growing and sustaining long-term funding and collaboration
  • Monitors donor websites and fundraising portals and identify opportunities matching the thematic areas AAIU
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of local sponsorship products; and develop acquisition and retention strategies for the supporters from Uganda in line with AAIU fundraising strategy, CSP IV, AAI sponsorship policies and standards, and the national laws.
  • Maintain oversight of all donor funded projects in collaboration with the Program and Fundraising Manager in line with the AAIU strategy
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with Funding Affiliates and supporters in accordance to set AAI Sponsorship Policies and Standards.
  • Initiate, lead and coordinate development 2 -year plans and budgets in line with fundraising strategy and revised CSP VI Commitments.
  • Maintain oversight on sponsorship database and share monthly performance reports in line with the Sponsorship Policies and Standards.
  • Provide administrative leadership to and control of assets of the sponsorship unit.
  • Coordinate the generation, storage and access of sponsorship-related knowledge needs for AAIU and its partners in line with the AAIU KM Strategy
  • Supervise, motivate, appraise sponsorship officers and build the capacity of staff and partners in line with Human Resources Policy (HRP), fundraising strategy, sponsorship, and other Organizational policies.




Qualifications Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Mass Communication or any other related discipline from a recognized institution. A postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Planning, Fundraising etc.
  • A minimum of six years of similar work experience, three of these should have been at coordination level in a reputable organization, with at least three years implementing and/or coordinating resource mobilization and sponsorship.
  • Previous experience working with community transformative Programmes. Demonstrated experience in writing and winning funding proposals
  • Competencies: Communication skills, Transformative feminist leadership skills, Proposal writing skills, People Management skills, Knowledge and understanding of philanthropy sector and best practices, Ability to establish critical working relationships, Report writing, Analytical skills, Teamwork, Negotiation skills, Ability to do fundraising, Ability to establish critical working relationships, Ability to promote and safeguard AAU policies, Ability to conduct power analysis.
