Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.

 

Job Summary:  The Risk and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for overall risk identification, analysis and risk management. She/he shall recommend and ensure the implementation of measures to minimize organizational risk and compliance with policies, procedures, and standards. This includes planning and designing appropriate tools to strategically review and determine risk levels, propose approaches and systems to mitigate risks and effectively track progress in implementing recommendations on risk mitigation. The Risk and Compliance Coordinator will provide advice on risk management and will coordinate and ensure all Internal and External Audit recommendations are implemented within stipulated timelines.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the implementation of all aspects of the risk functions including risk identification, analysis and risk management
  • Lead and define the Enterprise Risk Management framework and the development of the organization’s Risk Register.
  • Advise Senior Management on risk management, incorporate risk considerations into strategic decision-making, and ensure alignment between Strategic Plan and Risk Policy.
  • Guide the integration of enterprise risk management with other organizational planning and management activities.
  • Steer the implementation of Internal Audit and external audit recommendations. Ensure all recommendations are being implemented within the agreed timelines and report on progress to the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate the quarterly review of the Risk Register, which involves comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organization such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluating the organizations previous handling of risks.
  • Lead the Risk Management Committee and ensure the updated Risk Registers are communicated across the offices at all levels.
  • Liaise with audit in conducting whistle-blower investigations and ensure ultimate accountability on investigation conclusions and follow through by line management.
  • Conduct special reviews & investigations directed by the Executive Director or Senior Management Team and ensure that strong internal controls are developed and implemented by various departments, Programs/Projects.
  • Manage and consolidate the Internal Control Self-Assessment (ICSAT)
  • Conduct organization-wide training and awareness sessions on internal control and risk issues; and establish risk awareness and zero-fraud culture.
  • Develop and submit quarterly reports on the risk status of the organisation to the Executive Director.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with regulatory requirements.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Masters in Finance, Business Management or related field with a subject of study in Risk Management.
  • Certified Risk management is preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience working in Risk Management or related field.
