Job Summary:  The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer will play a pivotal role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and overseeing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. This position aims to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, identify and mitigate potential risks, and foster a culture of safety within Bodawerk International Limited.

 

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for the implementation of existing HSE processes, conducting regular site inspections, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. This role reports to the Health and Safety & Safety Manager, who is in charge of process design. Close collaboration with various departments is required to ensure comprehensive safety coverage and effective incident management.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations by monitoring and enforcing compliance across all functions in the organisation.
  • Conduct regular site inspections of all swap stations, production facilities, and Bodawerk offices to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Ensure employees and contractors adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and prepare detailed reports with recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and actions taken.
  • Assist in developing and testing emergency response plans, and coordinate with emergency services and first responders as necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) for various tasks, collaborating with operational teams to identify and implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Develop and deliver Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training programs for employees and contractors, including conducting toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents, and prepare regular reports on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance and trends.
  • Support the implementation of Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS) & Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) at Bodawerk International Limited.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
  • At least five years of experience in technical quality assurance or quality engineering roles within manufacturing, or renewable energy industries.
  • Strong proficiency in quality management methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, APQP) and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • Proficiency in database management with the ability to analyse big data to recognise/track trends.
  • Experience in developing and implementing standards and controls.
  • Experience with quality management system implementation and certification processes (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, able to lead cross-functional teams and drive change in a dynamic environment.
