About Organisation:

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program envisions a transformative network of young people and institutions driving inclusive and equitable socio-economic change in Africa. Since launching in 2012, the Program has supported nearly 45,000 young people in Africa to pursue secondary or tertiary education.   The second phase of the Program will offer 1000 Scholarships to young African women and men, admitted to both the Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Programmes at Makerere University Main Campus. The Program aims to deepen inclusive University education and empower the Youth to transform into leaders who will make meaningful contributions to national and regional development.

 

Job Summary:  The Senior Transition Officer is responsible for coordinating career development, community engagements and alumni engagement activities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operationalization of the Alumni e-Portfolio
  • Co-ordinate the Volunteer placements (non-academic internship) for Mastercard Foundation Scholars and other Program Community engagements
  • Coordinate the Alumni engagements through a co-created Alumi Engagemement Strategy and ensure Functionality of the Alumni Association
  • Co-ordinate the Program Transition Pathway of Further Education
  • Organize activities to strengthen the Scholars and Alumni Community
  • Support Mastercard Foundation Scholars’ utilization of support services e-learning materials uploaded on MUELE
  • Organize activities to educate and nurture giveback ethos among Mastercard Foundation Scholars
  • Oversee the functioning of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars and Alumni Leadership bodies
  • Participate in planning and implementing Tracer Studies by the Program and Partners of the Mastercard Foundation Scholar Program
  • Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree from a recognized University.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University
  • A Diploma/Certificate in Project Planning and Management is an added advantage
  • At least 5 years’ experience in project or programme work in the portfolios of mobilization, networking, and partnerships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suites and other digital tools
  • Experience in planning/organizing community/stakeholder engagements
  • Excellent analytic, communication, interpersonal, writing and facilitation skills.
  • An experience in tutorial and/or mentorship engagements in an Institution of Higher Learning.
