About Organisation:

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program envisions a transformative network of young people and institutions driving inclusive and equitable socio-economic change in Africa. Since launching in 2012, the Program has supported nearly 45,000 young people in Africa to pursue secondary or tertiary education.   The second phase of the Program will offer 1000 Scholarships to young African women and men, admitted to both the Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Programmes at Makerere University Main Campus. The Program aims to deepen inclusive University education and empower the Youth to transform into leaders who will make meaningful contributions to national and regional development.

 

Job Summary:  The Scholars Recruitment Officer shall be responsible for implementing the pre-enrolment engagements and recruitment portfolio of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all pre-enrolment activities in collaboration with partners.
  • Organize recruitment visits to create awareness and provide career guidance (in collaboration with the Department of the Academic Registrar) to potential applicants in the Program target groups.
  • Support International and refugee applicants in equating their academic documents at the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB).
  • Coordinate selection and recruitment activities of Mastercard Foundation Scholars on the Program
  • Establish and coordinate partnerships to facilitate recruitment of Mastercard Foundation Scholars
  • Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in any field from a recognized University
  • A Bachelor’s degree in development studies, social work and Social Administration, Business Administration, Education, Management studies, adult and community education or any other related field from a recognized University
  • A Postgraduate diploma in Project Planning and Management or Monitoring and Evaluation shall be an added advantage.
  • Five years of experience in organizing/coordinating education-related events such as education fairs, information awareness sessions, Youth Dialogues.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and other digital tools
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience working with diverse communities including High Schools, Refugees, Persons with Disabilities, and, hard to reach areas.
