Job Summary: The Senior Mechanic will manage preventive maintenance of the machinery, oversee other mechanics, planning repairs and availability of spares, carrying out specialized repairs on large generators, tractors, trucks, and light vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and follow up accurate and quality implementation of Preventive Maintenance Schedules generated by the Maintenance Management Software.
- Assessing and testing working conditions of all machines.
- Overseeing other mechanics in the actual repairs and troubleshooting of heavy and light machines independently.
- Identifying faults in machines that were not mentioned in the job card and carrying out all the repairs according.
- Arranging spare parts and overhauling the machines as per original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) standards.
- Testing and recommending the working conditions of machines before they are finally driven to the field.
- Training students and other mechanics in understanding and running electronics system and software installed on the new model/latest equipment.
- Plan and stock spares for future requirements.
- Recording all spares used in/on machines to complete repairs, preparing and submitting related report to the Head of Workshop.
- Overseeing the cleaning of all vehicles and the working area ,and ensuring that it is clean at all times.
- Adhering to safety, Health and Environmental policy of the Company
- Performing any other related duties as may be assigned to you by Head of Workshop or senior management from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum Diploma in mechanics/Automotive engineering / Equivalent Motor vehicle mechanics qualifications with practical experience.
- A minimum of Five (5) years in a similar job from a busy workshop. Knowledge in all repairs, preventive maintenance, spares planning, employee management, record keeping and good communication skills
- Be conversant with Tractors, Trucks, and Large Diesel Engine Generators.
- Communication Skills: The position demands constant interactions with employees, management, and stakeholders throughout the business and, therefore, communication skills are an absolute necessity.
- Office: A candidate for this position must be proficient in the use of Ms. Word, Ms. Excel, all necessary for the creation of not only visually but verbally engaging materials, reports, presentations, and proposals for departmental heads and management, stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: A candidate for this position must be capable of gathering and interpreting raw information and data, documenting findings, and drawing appropriate recommendations.
- Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must be a helpful, calm, and professional individual and demonstrate calmness during times of uncertainty.
