About US:
Girls for Climate Action(G4CA) is calling for young women and girls to join their Climate Corps Fellowship, a fully funded 6-month program aimed at equipping 20 young women and girls aged 16-30 in Uganda with the tools and skills needed to become effective climate advocates/activists. As a participant, you will receive training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to advocate for climate action, raise awareness, and influence policies at the national and international level.
The fellowship aims to equip young women to organise and mobilise communities, implement real climate solutions, advocacy and joining a movement of young women and girls advocating for climate justice.
The program includes a 1-week residential training, virtual sessions, and mentorship through out the 6 months where the fellows will conclude by co-creating each of their advocacy journeys with mentors.
About the Program.
The program will primarily run online however the starting workshop (7 days) and the closing workshop will be residential. G4CA will provide data stipends to support the Climate Corps and the residential workshops will be fully facilitated.
- Two weeks virtual session; This will engage in planning for the projects and being matched to a mentor.
- 5-months Mentorship: This will be a one on one mentorship and as part of the program communities of practice where the fellows will exchange ideas and work on various projects or advocacy moments together. This will also be the time to implement the projects.
- Graduation; celebrating the Climate Corps and award ceremony.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Live and work in Uganda.
- Advocate for climate justice. Preference will be given to those who are interested or are experienced in advocating for climate justice.
- The fellowship is open to all gender with emphasis to those who identify as girls, women or non-binary.
- Having at least 2 years in advocacy climate crisis will be given high priority.
- Young women and girls between 16-30 Years old at the time of application.
- Self driven and committed to working on their individual projects.
