DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Sector Head, the Client Analyst – Corporate will be responsible for conducting ongoing research and analysis to enable the Sector Heads and Relationship Managers to fully understand the clients’ business, context, and identify potential business opportunities for the Bank. The role holder is also required to interpret the research findings and analytics and make recommendations regarding potential opportunities or risks so that the sector team can proactively identify solutions or mitigate commercial risks.
The role holder will also be responsible for supporting the sector team with managing client service requests and ensuring conclusive responses are provided promptly and supporting the origination team to improve the portfolio quality by being the contact point for information required to complete annual reviews and quarterly business reviews.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Client and industry research and analysis: Research clients, their business, operations, and performance, as well as trends in their specific industries at the request of the Managers and sector heads.
- Compile and analyse information regarding sales activity and business pipeline.
- Client relationship management: Interact and liaise with clients to provide or request information, assist in the deal execution and/or gather any other critical information for the bank.
- Support the Credit process: Support the Sector Head and Relationship Managers in the Credit process including Credit applications, New Business Committee (NBC)- paper preparation, excess management, and compliance-related issues to achieve zero write-off of debt, zero operational loss issues and other relevant workflows between origination and coverage such as annual reviews and portfolio monitoring and client performance requests.
- Act as an escalation point for any identified risks to the Sector Head and Chief Corporate and Institutional Banking Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must be a University Graduate (Hons.).
- Possession of skills in Sales, Credit & Relationship Management will be an added advantage.
- Track record in sales management.
- Three years of experience in banking of which 1-2 should be in Customer relationship management & sales.
- Computer knowledge especially spread sheet, word & power point.
- Relevant business experience and acumen.
- Outgoing, self-motivated and a good team player able to work under minimum supervision- Self-drive and initiative.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- A self-starter who is oriented and able to meet deadlines.
- Full of energy and enthusiasm.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
