Job Summary: As a Driver at UKPC, you will play a critical role in supporting the operations of our projects by providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services. Your responsibilities will encompass driving project staff and visitors to various destinations, ensuring strict adherence to local traffic regulations, and maintaining the organisation’s vehicle(s) in optimal condition. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in tracking vehicle mileage, managing fuel consumption reports, and ensuring the vehicles are serviced regularly according to maintenance schedules. You will contribute to the smooth operation of UKPC’s programs by facilitating timely and secure transportation, crucial for the effective implementation of project activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- At least 5 years of proven experience as a driver, ideally within the development sector or similar environments.
- Strong familiarity with local road networks and traffic regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle mechanics and the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs independently.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken, enabling clear and effective communication with team members and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, critical for managing schedules, routes, and record-keeping independently.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in mileage tracking and fuel reporting.
- Language requirements
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Fluency in one or more commonly spoken Ugandan vernacular languages is a plus.
