Conservation Trust (BMCT) was established in 1994, with the major aim of
providing long-term reliable support for projects promoting research,
conservation of biological diversity and sustainable use of natural resources
in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (MGNP) and Bwindi Impenetrable National
Park (BINP) while at the same time promoting the well-being of neighboring
communities.
Job Summary: The Finance and Administration Manager shall
be responsible for the management of BMCT’s finances. The incumbent will ensure
that accounts are maintained in a manner consistent with the financial rules
and regulations of BMCT, specific donor accounting requirements and in
conformity with accepted international accounting standards He/she will monitor
all accounts, provide overall financial management and report on the activities
of all projects. The Finance and Administration Manager will also assist in the
establishment and monitoring of acceptable accounting systems for the
intermediary agencies. .
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development and establishment of a sound financial management,
monitoring and evaluation system and procedures - Ensure transparency, accountability and effective use of BMCT
financial resources - Ensure Emely budgeting, management and reporting of BMCT finances.
- Oversee the effective implementation of BMCT financial investment
strategy M) Ensure the effective implementation of BMCT financial
policies, procedures and Practices. - Effective supervision, monitoring and appraisal of staff
- Detailed Tasks
- Ensure the development, establishment of sound financial management
policies, procedures and Practices - Maintain BMCT’s financial accounts in accordance with the Trust’s
financial rules and regulations - Carry out financial and technical review of project proposals for
funding submitted by LCSC - Oversee reviews of BMCT’s finances and financial procedures and
continuously monitor and evaluate the overall financial performance; - Supervise the filing of accounting documents, including
computerization, and transactions out of petty cash - Organize financial and office systems audit,
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, annual work plans, progress
reports, quarterly reports, and other reports as required - Prepare reports on the performance of the Endowment Fund
- Oversee investments and provide specialized advice to the Trust
Administrator and the Board on financial investment matters. - Monitor all contracts to ensure compliance with the conditions
therein. - Manage staff payroll
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in finance or
accounting or a related field. CPA or Chartered Accountant with a very
good knowledge of internationally accepted accounting principles. - A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, financial
management and administration. - Experience of working with donor NGO funded projects is an added
advantage. - Good communication skills:
- Business management skills,
- Investment appraisal
- Good interpersonal skills
- Computer skills and extensive knowledge of accounting software
- Other requirements
- Ability to produce accurate financial reports in a timely manner.
- Ability to supervise staff and build teamwork
- Ability to deal with various grantees and donors
- Highest level of integrity
