About US:
War Child Holland
(WCH) is an International non-profit organization that has been working in
Uganda since 2004, mainly in the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) affected areas.
As the situation in Uganda has stabilized, WCH has closed its programs related
to the LRA conflict and started a refugee response program in early 2016 in the
West Nile region, offering psychosocial support to children, young people and
families in the refugee and host communities. In addition to psychosocial
support, the country office is in the process of establishing education
projects with partners.
Job Summary: The Program Support Officer – Can’t Wait To
Learn (CWTL) Officer is responsible for all logistics and implementation
support to general IT and Can’t Wait to Learn programme in Uganda. The role
includes assisting in the procurement of CWTL Materials such as; tablets and
their accessories. The Officer is
responsible for the preparation and distribution of tablets and related
equipment to the field, replacement of the tablets, and follow up on fetching
data from the tablets with the partners. The position also involves supporting
on all IT requirements of WCH office.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting
the procurement and preparation of tablets, accessories and related equipment
for the CWTL programme in Uganda.
- Collaborate with the Logistics team and
the PDA-EDU on the needs assessment for procurement of tablets,
accessories and related equipment needed for the CWTL programme. - Responsible, in collaboration with the
logistics team and HO, for the organisation and technical preparation of tablets,
installation of the games on the tablets, and engraving of tablets before
they are distributed to the field. - Ensure an updated log of where the
tablets are at all times.
Responsible for the
planning and implementation of distribution/hand-over of tablets, accessories
and related equipment to the different partners/learning centres.
- Plan and organise, in collaboration with
the PM and logistics team, the distribution of tablets and accessories to
the partners/education centres - Ensure all items are registered in the
equipment list according to WCH guidelines and criteria, keep equipment
list up to date - Prepare all transfer papers and assure
proper hand over documentation is signed by all parties - Prepare, assure signing, and filing of
loan agreements with all partners/learning centres.
Support use of the
tablets in the field
- Supporting the partners/learning centres
on the technical use of the tablets - Assess, report and solve
technical/logistical problems occurred while implementing CWTL in the
learning centres. - Ensure tablets in the field are updated
and in good working order, including organisation of replacing faulty
equipment - Report regularly to the line manager on
status/location/use of all tablets - Implement regular stock-taking of tablets
and accessories in all learning centres in collaboration with the
logistics team
Support in Data
milking
- Coordinate with the partners M&E
team for the timely data milking (twice a week) - Follow up on the sharing of collected
data to the teachers - Report technical issues in Jira
Support WCH IT
requirements.
- Responsible in diagnosing and resolving
minor network, software and hardware related problems. - Responsible for setting up computers of
new staff. - Creates and plans IT maintenance
schedules and frame works for WCH. - Responsible for evaluating and
suggesting new technology and ideas on IT to line manager for
consideration. - Provide on the job training and coaching
for staff on computer/IT use.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The War Child Holland (WCH) Program
Support Officer – Can’t Wait To Learn (CWTL) job should hold a Bachelor’s degree
in Information Technology or Telecom Management - A minimum of three years of working
experience. - Fluent in English (spoken and written
word) - Experience with iNGO and working with
institutional donors is preferred. - Strong understanding of Education
programs, experience of working in refugee settlements is an added value - Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills; - Good computer skills
- Ability to work both independently and
collaboratively as a member if a team
