energy products that empower those living off-grid. Over 34m people in Uganda
are off-grid, which equates to 6.2m households who have no access to power and
instead depend on kerosene for light and local businesses for phone charging.
To address this, Fenix International has developed ReadyPay, a new Pay-To-Own
Solar Power System. Coming in a range of kits, ReadyPay Power Systems are
designed to provide clean light, phone charging, entertainment and more for
those living off-grid.

Job Summary:  Fenix is looking for a experienced, highly
motivated and disciplined Accountant with a passion for entrepreneurship, renewable
energy, and financial inclusion to join our team. This position is a key role
within the Finance Department of a fast-paced start up at the front lines of
renewable energy and mobile payment technology.

The Global
Accountant will be an integral part of the Fenix Finance Team, collaborating
with the Financial Controller to post, reconcile and present the accounts of
Fenix International on a monthly and annual basis. Fenix uses SAP Business One
as its accounting platform, and the Global Accountant will become a specialist
user in the system to post the daily accounting entries, reconciliations and
initiate approval workflows. The Global accountant will provide timely and
accurate financial information to management by preparing financial reports as well
as implementing processes and controls to ensure best practices and adherence
to global accounting standards. A successful candidate will have a strong
knowledge of accounting, and will have the ability to work independently, and
problem solve in a pro-active manner.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and provide insights
  and commentary.
• Take ownership of global Accounts Payable and process and post daily
  transactions.
• Preparation of bank payments and reconciliations, and lead
  communication with bank.
• Record and manage prepayments and accruals ledgers, ensuring
  accuracy of timing of expenses
• Manage global employee expense reimbursements
• Assist Operations team with recording and tracking of global
  inventory
• Custodian of the Global Fixed Asset register, updating it with
  additions, disposals and posting monthly depreciation figures.
• Support Global Financial Controller in development of effective
  chart of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts
• Support Global Financial Controller in maintaining internal controls
  by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
• Support Global team in SAP maintenance and any ongoing SAP upgrades
• Assist in global audit preparation and support Global Financial
  Controller throughout audit process
• Assist in filing Corporate Income Taxes
• Assist with maintenance of Accounting Policies & Procedures
  Manual
• Assist in the preparation of monthly Global financial reporting and
  ad hoc reporting as necessary
• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial
  statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness,
  and conformance to reporting and procedural standards

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The applicant for the Fenix International Global Accountant job must
  hold a University degree, with full or part ACCA or CPA or equivalent
• Acumen in accounting and financial issues and procedures
• Detail-oriented, with a highly developed sense of reliability and
  accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Trustworthiness and willingness to take responsibility
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English)
• Experience and proficiency in accounting software tools, preferred
  SAP Business One experience
• Experience and proficiency in excel
• Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative nature
• Strong work ethic and integrity
• A passion for Fenix and our customers!

Desired:

• Work experience in a multinational company or financial institution,
  preferably with operations in Africa
• Experience with enterprise resource planning systems
• Understanding of rural BOP markets, microfinance, mobile telecom
  and/or renewable energy industries in East Africa
