Job Summary: As a Senior Technical Projects/Programs Manager, you will play a critical role in leading the development and execution of projects and programs within the smart homes, buildings, and cities sector. Based in our Tokyo office, this position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and leadership skills to drive our initiatives from conception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in smart technology projects, with proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex programs on time and within budget.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects and programs related to smart homes, buildings, and cities, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with R&D, engineering, product management, and external partners to define project scopes, goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including resource allocation, milestones, and risk management strategies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, coordinating between internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure clear and timely information flow.
- Monitor and report on project progress, performance, and outcomes, implementing corrective actions as necessary to address challenges and mitigate risks.
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement in project management practices and technology development processes.
- Lead and mentor project team members, promoting a culture of high performance, accountability, and collaboration.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to smart homes, buildings, and cities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field.
- At least seven years of experience in technical project or program management, with a focus on smart homes, building automation, or urban technology projects.
- Strong technical acumen and the ability to understand complex technical projects and concepts.
- Fluent in Japanese and proficient in English, both verbal and written.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, cross-functional projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and directing teams in a high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., Agile, Scrum, PMI).
- Ability to navigate and resolve conflicts, build consensus, and foster strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
