Job Summary: The Credit and Investment Analyst will be responsible for conducting in-depth research, analysis, and compliance checks to support the development, management, and implementation of Sharia-compliant financial products and services. This role requires a deep understanding of Islamic finance principles, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to adhering to ethical and religious standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct thorough financial analysis of potential investments, including company financials, market trends, and industry dynamics.
- Create and maintain detailed financial models to assess investment opportunities and risks.
- Analyse and interpret financial statements, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the development and structuring of Islamic financing products and services.
- Adapt existing financial offerings to be Sharia compliant or assist in creating new ones.
Investment Research:
- Stay updated on market developments and trends, including economic indicators, sector-specific news, and geopolitical events.
- Perform due diligence on investment opportunities, including assessing the competitive landscape, market conditions, and regulatory environment.
- Identify and evaluate potential investment strategies and recommend them to the investment committee.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor and track the performance of existing investments in the portfolio.
- Prepare and present investment recommendations to the investment team or clients.
- Conduct research on Islamic finance principles and industry developments.
- Analyse and interpret Sharia-compliant financial structures and transactions.
Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate and assess the risk associated with various investment options.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and provide recommendations for risk management.
- Evaluate the risk associated with Islamic financing activities and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate records of risk assessments and compliance efforts.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare investment reports and present findings to senior management and clients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of investment decisions and strategies.
- Prepare and review documentation for Islamic financing transactions.
- Conduct due diligence on prospective clients and investment opportunities to ensure Sharia compliance.
- Prepare reports on the performance and compliance of Islamic financing activities.
Compliance:
- Ensure that all financial products, services, and transactions comply with Sharia principles and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Sharia board or advisors to maintain and update the bank’s compliance standards.
- Ensure that all investment activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Stay informed about changes in investment regulations and ensure adherence.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honours degree in Islamic Banking/Finance, economics, or a related field
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in financial modelling.
- Knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in financial software and data analysis tools.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to compliance.
