Job Summary:   The Senior Human Resources Senior Officer is responsible for the smooth running of the HR function in partnership with other business units. The role involves staffing, compensation, and benefits, training and development, performance management, policies, preparing budgets, employee engagement, and relations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the Human Resources Strategy and related initiatives in collaboration with the Human Resources Headquarters Office.
  • Provide support to the Leadership Team in developing the skills and capabilities of staff in various roles and functions through the implementation of training interventions.
  • Conduct end-to-end recruitment, selection, and orientation in collaboration with Hiring Managers to provide adequate staffing.
  • Provide employment contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Ensure employee onboarding to ensure a smooth transition for new hires as well as effective integration into the team during the probation period.
  • Payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payroll calculations, deductions, tax compliance, and benefits administration.
  • Provide guidance and administration on employee compensation & benefits and reward and recognition as per the HR strategy.
  • Provide employees with guided support on managing their performance through the Balance Scorecard tool and ensure the appraisal cycle happens effectively.
  • Ensure all employees have up-to-date job descriptions and work plans and are aligned with compensation, performance evaluations, and career progression.
  • Generate and maintain HR reports and dashboards to track key HR metrics, recruitment progress, payroll data, and trends.
  • Maintain accurate and organized employee files.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant labor laws and advise department managers on the legal implications of HR issues related to discipline and employee grievances.
  • Provide input for HR budget and effectively control HR costs in the organization.
  • Ensure all policies are up-to-date, employees have access and are implemented fairly.
  • Oversee the Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedure in the organization.
  • Communicate and enforce organizational values.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honors bachelor’s degree in human resources management or business administration/arts with a paper in Human Resource Management/Development.
  • HR Professional Certification.
  • Full membership to the Human Resource Management Association of Uganda.
  • Five years of experience with at least 2 years in a senior role in HR.
  • Must be an HR generalist with an excellent appreciation of all functions in HR.
  • Coaching or Mediation or organizational psychology certification is an added advantage.
  • Effective verbal and listening skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-driven individual with an intentional attitude and decision-making skills.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS Systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Proficiency in using Sage 300 is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
