About US:
Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Fish processing assistant is responsible for processing fish including grading, sorting, weighing, cutting, cleaning and packing fish for customers on order.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cuts, cleans and packs fish for customers on order.
- Weighs fish products and categorises accordingly with sufficient ice application to preserve fish and maintain cold chain.
- Follows approved procedures for handling fish and restocking fridges to ensure quality protection.
- Receives supplies, organizes and maintains inventory of fish.
- Checks and verifies for freshness of fish.
- Maintains the store premises, equipment and storage areas clean, neat and in hygienic condition to meet Food Safety Standards.
- Helps customers understand the product and answers general queries.
- Follows Health and safety guidelines, reporting any concerns or incidents to the Retail Store Supervisor.
- Informs Shop Supervisor about all out of date or damaged fish and ensures it is removed from fridges.
- Adherence to Food Handling Standards.
- Offers exemplary customer service.
- Performs end-of-day cleaning duties, which includes wiping down windows, table surfaces, and fixtures as well as sweeping and mopping the shop floor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an O’ level Certificate
- Two years of experience in fish processing.
- Strong leadership and customer management abilities.
- Good Customer care skills.
- Good grasp of the English Language
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be organized and accurate.
- Must be willing to work long hours when required.
- Be able to work in a multicultural environment
