Job Summary: The responsibility of a customs declarant is to accurately prepare and submit customs declarations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, proper classification, valuation, and origin determination of goods for import or export.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accurate tariff classification, lodgment of shipments
- Perform accurate documentation, customs clearance, processing and timely release of Import and Export shipments from customs custody
- Submitting shipping documents to customs or brokers for customs processing
- Maintain accurate and proper documentation of shipment details in freight system
- Assist in computation, filing, and payment of Bureau of Customs duties and taxes
- Monitor shipment departure, arrival, and clearance statuses to ensure prompt release of shipment
- Expedite release of shipments by following up and coordinating with stakeholders responsible for customs processing
- Coordinate customs clearance status with logistics arm to ensure proper communication of information and timely delivery of each shipment
- Inform logistics arm and clients when a potential demurrage or detention event could occur
- Performs other related activities that may be assigned by immediate supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree of procurement and supply chain management or any other related field.
- EACFFPC Certification
- At least two years of working experience in Freight Forwarding, Customs or Logistics (Import and Export)
- Highly knowledgeable on Customs processes and laws
- Proficiency in computer and other productivity tools
- Strong sense of responsibility; ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Client oriented, strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude dealing with people
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Strong team player who can manage multiple stakeholders
- Adept at creating content that will effectively engage audiences.
- Excellent time, organizational, and self-management skills
- Quick-thinking, keen to details, with excellent crisis management skills
- Proactive and adaptable to changing work environments
- Professional written and verbal English communication skills are required
