not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the
Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a
Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres
of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa,
Eastern Europe and North America.

Job Summary:    The Medical Officer will conduct
clinical-patient assessment, provide medical care and treatment to clients and
contribute to continuous professional development in line with the
baylor-uganda guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement differentiated services delivery models at FPRRH.
  • Conduct nutrition categorization and growth monitoring.
  • Provide family planning needs assessment
  • Conduct TB screening and management.
  • Provide cervical cancer screening referrals.
  • Enroll eligible clients on IPT, monitor adherence and adverse events
    as well as completion rates.
  • Monitor clients for Adverse Drug Reactions, ADR, and report these through
    NMS.
  • Enhance retention through provision of quality, client-centered
    services while observing the Patients’ Charter.
  • Conduct VL monitoring and provide adherence message to support and
    maintain viral suppression.
  • Screen all clients for advanced HIV disease, and provide appropriate
    management.
  • Respond to ward consultations, and conduct regular ward coverage to
    provide support in the management of advanced HIV.
  • Provide Adolescent and child friendly PSS (HEADSS, PLAY) and
    Psychosocial needs assessment (PHDP) and referral those with needs to CBO.
  • Ensure ART optimization, by implementing DTG transitioning, and
    LPV/r substitution for all children under 10 with suppressed viral load.
  • Participate in ART clinic meetings, making case summaries and
    presentations. (Program meeting, CME, switch meetings, mortality audits,
    CQI meeting, performance review meetings).
  • Conduct technical support to other sites
  • Implement SURGE across the 95-95-95 cascades.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports to stakeholders on achievements, best
    practices, and recommendation for further improvement.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold an MBCHB
  • Three years of related work experience
