Job Summary:   The purpose of the Protection Officer is to implement the day-to-day of the Outreach activities. The Protection Officer will be managing community mobilization activities which includes creating and maintaining strong relationships with external partners, and community members. The primary goal is to enhance awareness of NRC, promote its mission, and foster collaboration within the community. He/she will be reporting to the Protection Team leader. The position will be based in Kampala.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated PfV project portfolio according to the plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Develop status reports as required by management.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Social Policy, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluating field-based protection from violence with an NGO, particularly focusing on the people we serve ’s rights, preferably in an emergency setting.
  • Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian organization or social work environment.
  • Previous experience working in complex or volatile contexts.
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
  • English proficiency both written and verbal.
  • Excellent capacity to plan, prioritize and multitask, attention to detail.
  • Excellent team-working skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable and have the ability to cope with stressful situations.
  • Excellent computer literacy, including MS Office (Word and Excel); Other digital skills appreciated.
  • Ideally experience in a project implementation position in an NGO or UN agency.
  • Good reporting and coordination skills.
  • Excellent cultural awareness, empathy, and sensitivity
  • Highly approachable, trustworthy, and confidential.
  • Ability to work independently whenever required.
