TPO Uganda is a local Ugandan NGO that has been operating in the country for 27 years. Our programs comprise interventions organised around the following themes: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Care and protection of OVC; child protection, livelihoods support, response and prevention of all forms of violence against women and children as well as emergency response and humanitarian action. TPO Uganda is active in over 45 districts in the region and is a member of several partnerships and coordination mechanisms in the country.
Job Summary: The Accountant will be responsible for routine financial accounting functions including tracking accountability and supervision of day-to-day operations. The role supports the Finance Manager in implementing effective and efficient financial controls within the context of the country’s strategy as well as the finance team’s objectives, financial regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures. The position holder will also be expected to prepare and present reports as per TPO reporting guidelines and schedule.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Finance, or a relevant field from a recognized university
- Part professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIA, or CFA – Level II.
- PGD in a relevant field added
- At least Three years relevant working experience in a multi-donor, or if in the private sector experience managing income from multiple sources of which two years should be USAID grant
- Quality and relevant experience in finance and accountancy in a major organization
- IT Literate and excellent knowledge and skills in using computer based accounting systems and Microsoft excel and word packages
- Knowledge and Experience in the interpretation of Donor
- Knowledge of government policies and regulations on financial management and taxation
- Knowledge of Audit report preparation
