Job Title:    Election Officer/District Election Administrator (2 Fresher Jobs)

About US:

The Electoral Commission of Uganda, also Uganda Electoral Commission, is a constitutionally established organ of the Government of Uganda, whose mandate is to “organise and conduct regular, free and fair elections” in the country, in an efficient, professional and impartial manner. It was established under Article 60 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  The Election Officer/District Election Administrator will enhance and coordinate all operational activities in an EC District office, with the aim of providing services for elections nearer to the public in the most cost-effective manner.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Updating the Voters Register;
  • Ensuring timely implementation of electoral activities in the district in accordance with the electoral timelines;
  • Drawing and implementing work plans for the District Electoral Commission office;
  • Ensuring safe custody of District Electoral Commission equipment, assets and reusable materials;
  • Supervising and appraising Electoral Commission staff within the respective district;
  • Accounting for District Electoral Commission funds and producing regular financial and activity reports;
  • Attending to public enquiries on Electoral Commission related matters within the respective district;
  • Sensitizing the public on Electoral Commission through voter education and publicity;
  • Executing other official tasks as may be assigned from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Social Sciences or Social Work and Social Administration or Human Resource or Development Studies or Education or Business Administration or Law or a closely related field obtained from a recognized University/Institution.
  • At least three (3) years relevant working experience in Electoral Commission served at the level of Election Officer/Assistant District Registrar or equivalent level of relevant experience in management, operations or field related activities in a busy and reputable organization.
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural and hardship environment;
  • Good skills in conflict resolution/problem solving, team work, crisis management, training facilitation and coaching;
  • High level of commitment and working under minimal supervision;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time and work effectively with colleagues from different backgrounds;
  • Strong planning, organization, communication and decision making skills;
  • Confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people and issues;
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment under high pressure and cope with tight deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with excellent advocacy skills;
  • Possess a high standard of personal and professional integrity.
  • AGE: Above (25) years of age.
