Job Summary: The Accounting Officer is primarily responsible for assisting the Chief accountant in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance department. The position is also responsible to ensure that the management of the financial and accounting practices, systems and controls conform to all applicable statutory requirements and best industry practice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing the entire supplier process:
- Posting of supplier documentation
- Reconciliation of supplier accounts
- Review supplier ageing
- Processing payments to suppliers and other stakeholders
- Resolving and raising supplier queries
- Document management and archiving of both physical and soft documents / records where applicable
- Managing treasury function
- Querying and resolving any discrepancies in daily sales report with the branches
- Carry out reconciliations of the receipt collection accounts
- Petty cash management
- Assist in bank reconciliations and preparing bank status reports
- Prepare accruals, prepayments and other schedules
- Assist in preparing P&L and Balance sheet schedules
- Fixed asset management and producing related reports
- Perform computation and filing of statutory returns within deadlines
- Be involved in the internal and external audit process
- Assist in budget preparation
- Assist in any other duties assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- ACCA / CPA Uganda or an equivalent qualification
- At least two years of relevant experience
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of Uganda tax laws and regulations
- Working knowledge of SAP B1 will be an added advantage.
