Job Summary: We are looking for a talented and dedicated Communications Officer to join our team and help shape our organization’s communication strategies. As a Communications Officer, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the public image of our company, conveying our message effectively, and engaging with various stakeholders. Your exceptional communication skills, creativity, and strategic thinking will be vital in promoting our brand, sharing our story, and fostering strong relationships with the media, customers, partners, and the community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategy development: Develop communication strategies for our clients and different products and services.
- Content Creation: Produce high-quality and engaging content for clients’ digital platforms, including website blogs, articles, infographics, videos, and email newsletters. Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and other team members to ensure content aligns with brand guidelines and marketing objectives.
- Social Media Management: Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies for clients, including content creation, posting schedules, and community engagement across major platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others.
- Email Marketing: Plan and implement targeted email marketing campaigns to nurture leads, promote client initiatives, and drive engagement. Monitor campaign performance and conduct A/B testing to optimize results.
- Website Management: Maintain and update clients’ websites to ensure they are up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with their communication goals. Work closely with web developers and designers as needed.
- Webinars and event organization: Plan and organize educative events such as webinars, virtual training, in person webinars, presentations, to mention but a few.
- Content production coordination: Plan, organize and coordinate in-studio and out-of-studio productions such as podcasts, YouTube productions, as well as other video production projects including photography projects.
- Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers. Proactively pitch stories and news to secure media coverage and respond to media inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Internal Communication: Facilitate internal communication by creating and distributing internal newsletters, announcements, and memos. Ensure that employees are well-informed about company updates and initiatives.
- Crisis Communication: Develop and implement crisis communication plans to effectively manage and respond to potential crises or sensitive situations. Coordinate communication efforts to protect the organization’s reputation.
- Public Relations: Organize and coordinate public relations events, press conferences, and media interviews. Provide support and guidance to spokespersons and key personnel for media engagements.
- Brand Management: Support brand development and positioning efforts. Maintain consistency in brand messaging and visual identity across all communication channels.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor communication performance using analytics tools. Analyze data and generate reports to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to promote the company’s initiatives, projects, and events. Identify opportunities for community engagement and participation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and leadership, to align communication efforts with organizational goals and initiatives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Proven experience in communications, public relations, or a related role.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong storytelling abilities and the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
- Proficiency in media relations and experience in securing media coverage.
- Crisis management and issues handling experience.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative thinking and a proactive approach to communication strategies.
- Knowledge of analytics tools to measure communication effectiveness.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
