The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan
government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan
Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).
Job Summary: The Senior Officer – Financial Reporting
will be responsible for preparation of periodic financial statements and
guiding Management through offering insights and financial advice in the best
interest of the Fund.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Collate, prepare and interpret financial
reports, commentaries and financial statements.
·
Monitor and report on investments, income and
expenditure.
·
Participate in development and management of
financial systems, policies, procedures or models.
·
Continuously improves on financial reporting
processes, reports and insights offered to the Fund.
·
Provides back-office support for the Investment
operations.
·
Administers the process related to generating
financial statements on periodic basis.
·
Ensures all the relevant account reconciliations
are performed and corrective actions are taken.
·
Ensures compliance with international accounting
standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
·
Prepares for and coordinates internal and
external audits and follows up on implementation of recommendations
·
Participates in the review and adherence to
accounting systems, policies and procedures.
·
Manages the fixed asset register and maintains
depreciation records and reports.
·
Performs other work-related duties as assigned,
within your scope of practice.
Key Results:
·
Periodic financial statements and annual report.
·
Accurate journal entries, ledgers and
sub-ledgers.
·
Updated fixed assets register.
·
Proper financial records of all investments.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection
Fund of Uganda (DPF) Senior Officer – Financial Reporting job placement must
hold a first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in accounting,
finance, commerce, economics statistics, mathematics, business administration
or related field, from an accredited institution, is essential.
·
Professional certification in accounting such as
ACCA, Certified Public Accountant (Uganda) or related field is essential.
·
3+ years’ experience in financial reporting,
formulation of finance policies, practices, systems are essential.
·
Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications
for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial
reports is desirable.
