Job Summary:  The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for maintaining high availability and reliability and overall efficiency of the equipment by ensuring that mechanical jobs are carried out safely, efficiently and at optimum cost. Ensures first level inspection is thoroughly carried out and accurate feedback through SAP.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee compliance with Health, Safety and Environment policies for mechanical maintenance personnel. Contribute to plant cleanliness.
  • Determine and schedule the necessary actions of corrective and preventive mechanical maintenance in coordination with Electrical and Preventive installations. Ensure mechanical maintenance team’s full time readiness to efficiently tackle emergencies or urgent breakdowns.
  • Prepare weekly work orders according to preventive maintenance plans or scheduled corrective maintenance actions. Coordinate and supervise execution of work order activities, failure data gathering (cause, symptom), time confirmation (external and internal), material withdraw.
  • Contribute to NWC optimization by identifying critical parts of mechanical equipment (based on risk assessment) and proposing optimal stock levels of spare parts through (FMEA)
  • Communicate and implement regulations, company goals, local permits, policies and procedures; optimize the internal processes and structures. Supervise personnel to apply them consistently and ensure ISO compliance for related activities. Respect MAC standard, follow up weekly MAC targets.
  • Consider new techniques and/or technologies to optimize mechanical maintenance cost and improve the technical condition and functioning of the installed equipment.
  • Monitor performance of mechanical maintenance personnel (internal & external). Develop, inform and motivate its team, ensuring competencies and skills development according to technical innovations, plant or personal needs.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in the elaboration and control of the maintenance budget, ensuring planning and follow up of costs. Implement effective and systematic solutions to achieve budget and to meet or exceed targets.
  • Provide technical requirements and support supplier qualification and evaluation for mechanical maintenance services contracting.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Technology.
  • Two to four years of experience in a busy process or heavy industrial environment.
  • Use of PC and CMMS software (Computerised Maintenance Managements System)
  • Self-driven, results oriented.
  • High level of integrity
  • Good communication skills across the business
  • Able to plan and prioritise
  • Experience in managing dead- lines and work load
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Should be innovate and excellent team player with good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable dealing with people and a good listener
  • Reliable, tolerant & determined
  • Able to work extended hours when required
