Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.

 

Job Summary:  The Pediatrics and Adolescent Officer will monitor the implementation of strategies for earlier diagnosis, enrolment/linkage to care and increase access to quality HIV treatment for children and adolescents for retention purposes, improved viral load suppression.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the implementation of planned pediatric and adolescent activities then write and submit periodic reports to supervisor.
  • Conduct targeted Pediatric & adolescent capacity building based on clearly identified needs i.e. mentorship and support supervision.
  • Monitor the implementation of interventions for targeted identification of HIV exposed infants, HIV infected children and adolescents including successful linkage into care.
  • Monitor the implementation of strategies for retention of HIV exposed infants, HIV infected children and adolescents into care and establish functional-friendly pediatric and adolescent HIV clinics in line with national Pediatric & adolescent HIV//AIDs strategies.
  • Monitor implementation of improving functional systems for the provision of pediatric & adolescent counselling services.
  • Monitor the implementation of strategies to improve viral load coverage and suppression rates among HIV positive children and adolescents.
  • Monitor the implementation of the integrated community service delivery model for children and adolescents living with HIV.
  • Monitor the Integration and implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) for pediatric & adolescent HIV services and continuously provide feedback on pediatric & adolescent service improvement.
  • Strengthen partnerships & coordination with the district, CBOs, OVC partners to have coordinated and harmonized implementation of strategies to improve pediatric and adolescent HIV care.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Public health or Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Diploma in Nursing.
  • Two years of relevant working experience in HIV programs/projects with the ability to mentor.
