Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Commercial Business Controller is responsible for serving as a critical enabler of commercial business unit by taking responsibility for all matters relating to commercial financial control, finance business partnering, strategic planning, revenue, periodic forecasting, reporting and commercial financial performance management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Cash Management.
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
- Ensure all cash and credit sales are collected.
- Formulate and ensure strict adherence to the internal credit policy framework.
Filing & Reporting
- Manage the production budget and forecasts.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide for a system of management performance and cost reports.
- Provide financial analysis as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiation.
- Provides proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions.
- Consolidate divisional budgets and support managers in the preparation and motivation of capital budgets and return on investment calculations.
- Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions.
- Prepare forecasts of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows for the section.
- Must work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve production and, overall corporate objectives.
- After completing financial analysis, the Business Controller is responsible for reporting findings and working with financial and executive staff to make financial decisions. This can involve completing regular financial reviews and delivering accurate financial reports, executing sales and operational planning reports and developing and giving presentations.
- Collaborates with Divisional Head, Cost Accountants and Senior Management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis.
- Monitors and implement internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.
Team Support.
- Ensure divisional compliance with the company’s financial policies and procedures manual.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Others
- Any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time by the Head of Finance or Commercial Director.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics; professional certification such as CPA or ACCA or any other related field.
- At least five years of work experience in an FMCG or Dairy commercial firm.
- Strong quantitative abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy and competence in MS office.
- constant movements to different locations within assigned territory.
- Should be Strategical and analytical thinker who is driven by results and can innovate and develop creative financial solutions.
