Abt
Associates, a major American business and government research, technical
assistance, and consulting company, manages the USAID-funded Vector Control
Task Order I. Task Order 1 supports the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative
(PMI) and USAID in planning and implementing an integrated vector control
approach with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria. Abt has
implemented indoor residual spraying (IRS) for PMI since 2010, delivering
high-quality IRS programs and gathering the most comprehensive vector control
entomological data in the world. Under this contract, Abt will expand
entomological monitoring to guide programs focused on insecticide treated
mosquito nets and IRS and continue to assist PMI in reducing the burden of
malaria through IRS and capacity building in 22 African countries where malaria
is endemic. Abt will also continue to support PMI in IRS monitoring and
evaluation, as well as environmental compliance. .
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Update available
databases and perform data entry of all entomology field assessments and
respond to data entry needs and requirements as guided by the project.
· Perform regular
entomology data cleaning to ensure data quality.
· Participate in data
collection and verification processes of entomology data.
· Responsible for
verifying daily data-backups and proper filing and storing of both electronic
and paper-based entomological data.
· Make follow up of data
errors with field team and the Entomology Field Coordinator.
· Prepare weekly reports
and submit to the Entomology Field Coordinator. Work closely and provide
feedback to the M&E team (Database Manager, M&E •Coordinator and
M&E Manager with regard to data entry.
· File all paper forms by
geographical area and date in binders after data entry. •Ensure the safety and
correct use of the equipment issued.
· Review the data
collection tools and ensure that each of the district data is filed as per the
filing requirements.
· Perform any other
project duty assigned by Abt Associates.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal applicant must
hold a Bachelor’s degree/Diploma such as Education, Computer science,
Information technology or other relevant discipline is required.
· At least three years of
progressive experience performing M&E tasks and assignments.
· Experience performing
data quality assurance.
· Experience in data
entry.
· Excellent interpersonal
skills, ability to coordinate well with personnel within and outside the
project, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision,
· Excellent computer
skills, computer software programs, including MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Experience working with
DHIS2 is an added advantage.
· Experience working in
international development programs desirable
· English language fluency
