Job Summary:  The purpose of the USAID Learning Activity (ULA) is to further strengthen USAID/Uganda performance and improve the performance of its implementing partners, with a focus on collaborating, learning and adapting, in order to enhance the impact and sustainability of USAID-supported contributions to Uganda’s development.

 

The RFSA Research Assistant will support the collection and aggregation of primary data as stipulated in the detailed methodology of this study.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate field data collection activities, specifically Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
  • Take interview notes and transcribe the notes from Nga’Karimajong to English use by the learning review team.
  • Review word-processed interview notes for accuracy and completeness (data quality assurance).
  • Participate in pre-data collection training by the data collection team leaders.
  • Support the mobilization of participants/respondents for KIIs and FGDs.
  • Support the data collection team leaders with other tasks as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a High School Degree.
  • Two to five years of experience conducting data collection.
  • Demonstrated field experience in Karamoja sub-region.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a highly-skilled and interdisciplinary team.
  • Self-driven with the competence to prioritize and manage a variety of activities in a timely manner to meet competing deadlines

 

Place of Performance: The RFSAs Research Assistant will work in our Karamoja Region, Uganda with potential occasional travel to other parts of Uganda as need.
