Uganda Law Society (ULS) is a membership organization established by an Act of Parliament to provide services to its members in particular and to the people of Uganda. Its vision is to be a Proficient Bar Association in Fostering Access to Justice, the Rule of Law and Good Governance in Uganda. Its mission is to develop a Skilled and Empowered Legal Profession in Execution of its Statutory Mandate to Foster and Improve Access to and Administration of Justice as well as Good Governance in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the institutional Human Resource and Administration component
- Ensure proper recruitment, selection, orientation, training, motivation and retention of staff for the various departments.
- Maintain a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys, scheduling and conducting job evaluations, preparing pay budgets, monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions, recommending, planning and implementing the pay structure revisions.
- Ensure planning, monitoring and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees, scheduling management conferences with employees, hearing and resolving employee grievances, counseling employees and supervisors.
- Recommend benefit programs to management, directing the processing of benefit claims, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids, awarding benefit contracts, designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing the labor laws.
- Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support for projects and heads of departments or units as they implement approved policies and procedures appropriate to their sections.
- Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions
- Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system, keeping past and current records.
- Maintain human resource staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
- Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
- Carry out any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree required from a recognized university
- Post graduate diploma
- Must be a member of the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda
- At least four years of professional experience.
- Ability to speak local languages is an added advantage.
- Computer literacy

- Good report writing skills
- Integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to accomplish tasks promptly under minimum supervision.
