Inc (TREES) is a nonprofit organization providing technical training and
supplies for farmers in East and West Africa to end hunger through the Forest
Garden Approach. Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of impoverished
farmers by revitalizing degraded lands. We do this by eliminating hunger and
enhancing dietary diversity of the communities we serve through growing crops
with the nutrients needed for healthy livelihoods; improving the environment,
and adaptation to climate change. Trees for the Future has been operating in
Northern Uganda over the last decade and now are seeking to expand to the
Eastern Uganda.
Job Summary: We are seeking to hire the Monitoring and
Evaluation Officer based in Mbale field office. The Monitoring and Evaluation
(M&E) Officer will be responsible for the design, coordination and
implementation of the monitoring and evaluation, training, research, and
learning framework of the Projects. He/she will develop a systematic monitoring
framework to improve the qualitative and quantitative evidence gathered by the
Project. He/she will also provide technical assistance to the staff and
partners, particularly in relation to monitoring, reporting and planning for
existing and new projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans,
coordinates and organizes workload while remaining aware of changing Priorities
and competing deadlines
·
Establishes,
builds and maintains effective working relationships with staff and clients to
facilitate the provision of support
·
Organizes
and accurately completes multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking
into consideration special assignments, frequent interruptions, deadlines,
available resources and multiple reporting relationships
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant should hold a Bachelors or Master’s degree in statistics,
demographics, public policy, international development, economics, or related
field. Master’s degree or Bachelor plus an advanced certificate in M&E,
statistics, or economics preferred.
·
At least
2 years of experience in the design and implementation of M&E in
development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/
Government
·
Proven
ICT skills, especially in the navigation of Android technology and web-based
databases
·
Knowledge
of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed
method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies
·
Excellent
communication skills (written and oral):
·
Sensitivity
to and responsiveness to all partners, respectful and helpful relations with
project staff and project participants.
·
Expertise
in analyzing data and production of reports using statistical software
·
Experience
with data quality assessments and oversight
·
Experience
managing and providing ongoing training to M&E field officers
·
Experience
in planning and managing surveys
·
Fluency
in written and spoken English is preferred, and/or local language is a plus.
