About US:

Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) was established in 1992 by an
Act of Parliament (Cap 208) and is under the Office of the President of the
Republic of Uganda. The Act provides for the Commission to Oversee, Plan and
Coordinate AIDS Prevention and Control activities throughout Uganda.

Job Summary:  The Coordinator, Civil Society & Private
Sector will coordinate and ensure active participation of both the Civil
Society and Private sector in the HIV/AIDS National response

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Coordinate both the Civil Society and Private
Sector programmes on HIV/AIDS prevention and control;

·       
Facilitate effective communication between UAC
and both the Civil Society and the Private Sector in order to foster effective
collaboration with UAC and other stakeholders in the prevention and control of
HIV / AIDS;

·       
Provide technical support and guidance in
capacity needs assessment within both the Civil Society

·       
and the Private Sector and advocates for the
necessary support;

·       
Provide technical leadership support in the
designing and development of sector specific responses to HIV/ AIDS guided by
the National Strategic Plan;

·       
Facilitate decentralization of HIV/AIDS in both
the Civil Society and the Private Sector prevention and control programmes to
the region and district levels;

·       
Provide technical support in the development and
implementation of strategies and approaches for HIV/AIDS and gender
mainstreaming in line with the National Strategic Plan;

·       
Coordinate both the Civil Society and Private
Sector participation in policy development, strategic planning and budgeting
for the national response;

·       
Facilitate the designing and implementation of
impact assessment strategies for sector specific responses within the national
response framework;

·       
Prepare and submit work plans, budgets and
performance reports of both sectors

·       
Support both sectors in mobilization of
available resources for implementation of HIV /AIDS programmes in line with the
National response frame work;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor
Degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Development
Studies or Humanities or its equivalent from recognized awarding institutions.

·       
A Post graduate qualification in Public
Administration or Management, Development Studies, Social Work and Social
Administration, Social Sciences or a related field from a recognized awarding
institution

·       
At least 6 years of working experience in a
senior management position Government or Organization of similar status

·       
Effective Communicate skills;

·       
Lobbying and advocacy;

·       
Stakeholder coordination;

·       
Team work and interpersonal Relations

·       
Good knowledge of UAC’s policies, regulations
and programmes;

·       
Planning, organizing and coordinating;

·       
Concern for quality and standards;

·       
Ethics and integrity.
