Job Summary: The successful candidate will ensure that client and Firm’s expectations are met by delivering high quality services and maintaining high utilisation levels.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under guidance, support the delivery of designated tax engagements/projects, and managing the implementation of agreed deliverables;
- Assist in the preparation of proposals/tenders and making of presentations to clients;
- Generate innovative solutions on projects/engagements in collaboration with team members to enhance/renew service offerings to clients;
- Assist in developing knowledge of current tax matters across the tax function;
- Deliver client service according to relevant Deloitte standards, policies and ethical principles;
- Collect, assimilate and analyse relevant data using standard tools and data visualizations to help surface insights and solutions;
- Support in the development of new tax products and market new products;
- Carry out tax risk and opportunities reviews;
- Draft tax opinions, tax advices, tax computations and proposals;
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and the Uganda Revenue Authority;
- Liaise with the relevant regulatory bodies such as Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) on various tax and policy matters;
- Assist clients to resolve URA audits and statements of accounts issues and prepare objections and appeals to URA assessments; and
- Draft tax publications for clients and writing articles on relevant tax matters.

- Tax laws and rules – Develops knowledge of current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Legal function.

- Analytical thinking and problem solving – Collects, assimilates, and analyzes data and uses standard processes and tools to help surface and support solutions for solving problems in the Tax and Legal business.
- Technology tools and solutions – Applies technology knowledge to address client business challenges.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law or related field with a minimum of Second-Class Upper Division from a recognized university;
- A recognized accounting qualification such Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Post Graduate Diploma in Tax (PGD Tax) or Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) is an added advantage;
- A minimum of 16 points at ‘A’ Level or equivalent;
- A first grade in ‘O’ Level (with at least credit 3 in English and Mathematics) or equivalent;
- Be interested in pursuing a career in Taxation;
- Good knowledge of various local Tax Laws;
- Tax experience in an international auditing firm is an added advantage; and
- Be a Ugandan citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.
