About US:

The Church of Uganda is a Faith Based Organization with 37
Dioceses within the province with approximately 25,000 congregations and
reaches all parts of Uganda to the last village level with a structure that
interacts with the community on a daily basis. West Buganda Diocese is one of
the 37 Dioceses of the Church of Uganda. The Directorate of Household and
Community Transformation (HCT) mandated to facilitate socio-economic
development work on behalf of the Church of Uganda. CoU-HCT is a member of act
alliance whose mandate gives it a unique opportunity to facilitate development
initiatives for God’s people irrespective of religious affiliation and
background

About Project:

Church of Uganda in Partnership with Dan Church Aid (DCA)
received funding from the European Union through their European Union Instrument
for Human Rights (EIDHR) aimed at supporting and strengthening civil society
organisations, democracy activists and human rights defenders working on
critical human rights and democracy issues in Uganda. The action is co-funded
by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented in partnership with
Rural Action Community Based Organisation (RACOBAO) and Church of Uganda
Household Community Transformation (CoU-HCT).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Planned and implemented capacity building for
faith leaders

·       
Ensure an effective GBV prevention and response
strategy for the project.

·       
Development of project work plan and ensured
activity implementation

·       
Maintained an effective GBV Information
management system, GBV Database.

·       
Facilitated gender mainstreaming meetings and
workshops at District, sub-county and organizational level in areas of
implementation.

·       
Ensured effective networking, collaboration and
coordination with faith leaders and other GBV stakeholders and relevant
district departments.

·       
Support faith leaders to mainstream messages of
gender justice through their spaces

·       
Attended the Sub-Cluster Coordination meetings
with the GBV working groups (Partners)

·       
Identified capacity building needs for GBV staff
and stake holders

·       
Provided technical and support supervision to
the field structures established to address GBV issues in communities.

·       
Participate in joint monitoring visits by the
GBV Consortium/ Sub-Clusters in west Buganda Diocese.

·       
Strengthened coordination between legal and
medical service providers for response to cases of gender-based violence.

·       
Monthly activity reporting.

·       
Documentation of change and success stories for
sharing

·       
Monitor and support the project actions in the
project targeted districts

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant for Project Officer- Gender and
Social Justice job placement must hold a University Degree in a relevant field,
preferably in Social works and social administration. Social Science,
Development Studies, Gender Studies.

·       
At least three years of professional experience
in GBV prevention and response, gender justice and advocacy work within faith
based organization and civil society.

·       
Possession of a post graduate diploma in project
planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, Human rights or any other
gender related course is an added advantage.

·       
Excellent interpersonal skills.

·       
Ability to work under tight schedules and to
multi task/fast-track appropriately.

·       
Ability to ride a motor bike with a valid riding
permit

·       
High level of integrity, honesty and
professionalism.

·       
Analytical, judgmental and effective listening
skills.

·       
Very good knowledge of English and Luganda.

·       
Excellent people skills and ability to negotiate
between different stakeholder groups.

·       
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
Outlook. Excel and Power point.

·       
Self-driven, creativity, and problem-solving
capacity are required.

·       
Able to work independent, responsible and target
oriented.

·
